We had a chance to sit down and chat with Vladyslava about her background, and her approach to design and illustration. You’ll also see some examples of her work throughout the article. Vecteezy: How and when did you get started with design?
Vladyslava: I got started with design in high school when I learned that creative tasks involving drawing or decorating something are my favorite. At the same time, my friends asked me to help with some design jobs and I found that it is an interesting and relevant area for me. So I decided to become a professional.
Vecteezy: Do you have any formal training or are you self-taught?
Vladyslava: I have a bachelor’s degree in design and a master’s degree in creative project management but I always try to learn new techniques to upgrade my art (from YouTube videos, blogs, free and commercial courses).

Vecteezy: What tools do you use in your work?
Vladyslava: As a vector illustrator I use Adobe Illustrator for my art and Adobe Photoshop for some previews. Also, a Wacom tablet is very useful for creating complicated art.
Vecteezy: Tell us about your process for creating an illustration.
Vladyslava: I always start with a simple pencil and paper sketch. Then I scan it and work in Adobe Illustrator, from grayscale for creating basic shapes to the color palette, final accents, and details.

Vecteezy: With hundreds of resources already in your portfolio, how do you decide which new resources to create?
Vladyslava: I try to anticipate what people need. I design based on the time of the year, holidays that are upcoming, news, and whatever my personal vibes are telling to draw. For example, right now (November) it is better to work with February holidays and themes. That might mean drawing Valentine’s Day stuff, some cozy elements, and so on.
Vecteezy: What hobbies/interests do you have outside of design, and how have these influenced your creativity?
Vladyslava: As an introvert, I like home gardening, cooking with family, creating DIY decorations for holidays, and reading books. Right now I’m reading Stephen King’s “Institute”. I like to get away from all digital information.
